Harvey Leonard debuts on WCVB (then WHDH).
1972
The Bronx native comes to Boston from WPRI in Providence and subsequently becomes known as the dean of Boston weathermen. Fellow meteorologist Lee Goldberg says of him, “When you talk about the GOATS of Boston, you’ve got Bird and you’ve got Papi. You’ve got Brady. And you’ve got Harvey.” Leonard retires from his daily role at the station on May 25, 2002.
